Roadway Defect Settlement — $1 Million Award

Case Description:

Our client was a passenger in a vehicle driving on East Texas Street in Bossier when the roadway suddenly collapsed. They suffered 2 vertebral compression fractures and significant PTSD caused by the wreck.

Our attorneys obtained a video sewer survey conducted 44 months before the roadway collapse incident. The video survey showed that the sewer line in the area had collapsed, causing a large void above the sewer and below the roadway. 

Challenges:

Our attorneys had to prove that the survey put the defendants on notice that the roadway was likely to collapse. According to the video sewer survey we obtained, the defendants had 44 months' notice to fix this issue. 

Resolution:

Mediated settlement a week before trial resulted in $1M for the injured client.
